For the Cake

  • Preheat oven to 350º (175ºC).
  • Grease a 9X9 pan. (You can also use a 9X13 pan, your cooking time will be reduced to about 25 minutes.)
  • Pour boiling water over oats, stir, set aside.
  • Using a mixer cream the butter and halva. Scrape down sides of mixing bowl as necessary.
  • Mix eggs and vanilla  into the butter mixture.
  • Mix flour, salt, cinnamon, and baking soda in a bowl.
  • Add flour mixture to the butter mixture to combine until all ingredients are incorporated.
  • Pour ingredients into prepared pan, bake for about 40 minutes, or until done. Toothpick inserted in cake comes out clean.

For the Topping

  • Melt butter in small saucepan.
  • Add halva, stir until dissolved.
  • Add cream, stirring, bring to a boil.
  • Add coconut, stir, remove from heat. Set aside.
  • When done, allow cake to cool for ten minutes before turning out of pan.
  • Spread topping evenly over entire cake. Serve.
