This not-so-lazy Lazy Cake is definitely worth the extra effort to make!
Servings: 12 slices
For the Cake
Preheat oven to 350º (175ºC).
Grease a 9X9 pan. (You can also use a 9X13 pan, your cooking time will be reduced to about 25 minutes.)
Pour boiling water over oats, stir, set aside.
Using a mixer cream the butter and halva. Scrape down sides of mixing bowl as necessary.
Mix eggs and vanilla into the butter mixture.
Mix flour, salt, cinnamon, and baking soda in a bowl.
Add flour mixture to the butter mixture to combine until all ingredients are incorporated.
Pour ingredients into prepared pan, bake for about 40 minutes, or until done. Toothpick inserted in cake comes out clean.
For the Topping
Melt butter in small saucepan.
Add halva, stir until dissolved.
Add cream, stirring, bring to a boil.
Add coconut, stir, remove from heat. Set aside.
When done, allow cake to cool for ten minutes before turning out of pan.
Spread topping evenly over entire cake. Serve.
