Avocado Oil vs Olive Oil

What I do know is that I consume a huge amount of olive oil, but let’s take a look at avocado oil vs olive oil.

Growing up in Palestine and Jordan, olive oil plays a huge part in the local cuisine.

Palestine is known the world over for the ancient olive trees that have been around for centuries.

Every year Palestinian farmers harvest their olives after the second rain of the Fall.

Some of the olives are for jaring and eating over the coming year, and the others are for oil.

Palestine produces some of the best olive oil in the world despite the farmers living under occupation.

This is all to say that I fell in love with olive oil at an early age, and I tend to put it into a lot of my food.

Olive oil does not only taste good but is one of the healthiest oils for you.

This year we picked olives off our own trees.

And there is nothing quite like olive oil from your own trees.

I don’t have as much experience with avocado oil.

But I know it works very well in salad dressed with it.

I also know that avocado oil is very good for you and should be included in your diet for its health benefits..

However, I am starting to learn that avocado is great to use for cooking at high temperatures  given its higher smoke point.

Avocado oil and olive oil have plenty of monounsaturated fat as well as saturated fats, both of which can benefit you.

This appears to be one of those cases where both of these oils are good for you.

One will edge the other out depending on your perspective.

Avocado Oil

A healthy oil with a high smoke point, that can help enhance the absorption of nutrients.

Helps with arthritis pain, can even help prevent gum disease, and neutralizes free radicals.

High in Lutein which benefits your eyes and protects them against age related eye disease.

Can improve heart health and lower cholesterol and rich in oleic acid.

Avocados have a high fat content of healthy fats such as polyunsaturated fat.

Avocado oil has a pleasant and neutral flavor.

This makes it perfect for cooking most things, even good for stir fry.

It’s also great in salads and dressings.

Olive Oil

A lovely tasting, and healthy oil full of antioxidants that can help protect against chronic disease.

It has been shown that olive oil protects against heart disease, and may help prevent strokes.

Extra virgin olive oil lowers risk of type 2 diabetes, and possesses anti-cancer properties.

Studies also suggest that olive oil will lower the risk for the development of Alzheimer disease.

Antibacterial properties and treatment against rheumatoid arthritis are all found in the consumption of olive oil.

With its rich and deep flavor, olive oil is perfect for cooking and adding to bread dough.

Olive oil is great for dipping bread into, and sprinkling on salads and in dressings.

Which One is Better?

So, avocado oil vs olive oil.

After looking at these two oils I have come to the conclusion that I need to have both in my diet.

As I mentioned I already include a lot of olive oil in my diet, from breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

So what this means for me is that my challenge is to find ways to include avocado oil in my diet.

Olive oil and avocado oil are like the dynamic duo, together they can save our health.

Two superheroes uniting to make a difference in the world.

I have decided to be their spokesperson and will now spend my time making the argument for combining their forces.

No need ever again for vegetable oil or coconut oil with the availability of avocado and olive oil.

I will use avocado oil for cooking and olive oil for tasting or in dishes where the oil flavor is forward.

It is said that olive oil may be the healthiest oil on the planet, and with this I must agree.

Bottom line is that olive oil is probably more healthy than avocado oil overall when everything is considered.

But now that I have seen the benefits of both oils, I will definitely make a point to use both regularly in my diet.
